Matravers continues superb results

Matravers School is delighted with the release of this year’s Department for Education Performance Tables.

These Tables confirm the continued rapid improvements in results across GCSE and A-level at Matravers reflecting the outstanding teaching and curriculum offer that we provide.

At GCSE Matravers was pleased to move up over 400 places again in the league tables last year placing the school at or above National average in all key measures. The school had traditionally always performed in the bottom 15% of schools in the country until recently; now we are in the top 30% of schools in the country.

At Post-16, indicators are once again at or above national average reflecting the high performance of the Matravers Sixth Form in both academic and vocational performance.

This is a time of significant change in measuring school performance. Matravers School is at the forefront of this through opting in to the new “Progress8” school performance measures a year early. All schools will be judged on this measure from next year. We are proud that our performance is at or well above national average in this.

The performance tables this year take account of the Year 6 SATs national boycott in 2010, unfortunately resulting in not all student data being entered into the tables. Late amendments made by the Department for Education have also yet to be included in these tables. This will see a further rise in results for Matravers.

Dr Simon Riding (Headteacher) commented: “These results are based on the hard-work and commitment of the whole school community in securing excellent outcomes for our students. Our students, staff and parents are rightly proud of all they achieved. On the back of our ‘good with outstanding features’ Ofsted report in 2015 and planned significant site improvements, we are confident that results will continue to rise this year. Matravers is well on its way to delivering our “world-class” education provision for Westbury.”
