Curriculum KS4

The Key Stage 4 Curriculum at Matravers has been designed to be as adaptable as possible to ensure that all students have the opportunity to fulfil their potential  as well as meeting their needs.  The curriculum model offers students approximately 33 level 2 subjects to choose from, including the core subjects of English Language, English Literature, Maths, Science and PE.  To help students make the most of these opportunities three pathways have been created which offer guidance on the most suitable subjects for different types of learners.  The subjects on offer vary from each pathway but flexibility between pathways is possible if it is considered to be in the students’ best interest.

The Yellow Pathway— aimed at students who wish to study Triple Science.

In addition to the core subjects these students are encouraged to choose from the facilitating GCSES of History, Geography, Computer Science and French.  Other subjects that are available include GCSE Art and Design—Fine Art, Art and Design— 3D Design, Art and Design—Graphic Communications, Art and Design—Photography,  Business Studies, Dance, Drama, Food Technology, Geology, ICT, Media Studies, Physical Education, Religious Studies and Textiles. A range of Technical Award qualifications are also on offer including Health and Social Care, Travel and Tourism, Hair and Beauty, Business Studies and Music Technology.

The Green Pathway is our third pathway which offers students a degree of flexibility and personalisation to their curriculum. All students on this pathway will have the core subjects of English Language and English Literature, Maths, Core Science, Personalised learning and PE. Their options can be selected from the range offered to the other pathway students.

Further modification of the curriculum is made for our students via the Link and Upgrade Centre where individualised provision can be put into place.
