Curriculum Learning Journies

Pupil voice plays a central role in shaping our pastoral curriculum.

Pupil feedback gathered through surveys, focus groups, school council discussions and leadership groups is used to:

  • Shape curriculum content
  • Identify emerging issues affecting young people
  • Inform themed weeks and awareness events
  • Inform assembly programmes
  • Identify speakers and enrichment opportunities
  • Shape the content of our Careers of the Week programme
  • Evaluate the impact of pastoral curriculum provision

This helps ensure that the curriculum remains relevant, responsive and reflective of the needs of Matravers pupils.

Our curriculum follows a carefully sequenced learning journey. Topics are revisited and developed over time so that pupils gain deeper understanding as they mature. Learning is age appropriate, responsive to safeguarding issues and informed by pupil voice and local context. This approach reflects Department for Education expectations that RSHE should be carefully sequenced and responsive to pupil needs.
