PRIMARY TRANSITION

Welcome to the Matravers family

Matravers aims to make the transfer from Primary to Secondary Education as smooth, easy and successful as possible. We have very close working relationships with our feeder primary schools and many students will have already visited Matravers during their time at Primary school.

As soon as places have been confirmed during Year 6, our Year 7 Transition Team starts the process of transition with the Primary School. Our Year 7 Transition Team will visit every child and their teachers in the Primary School. The information collected during these visits is used to place the children into tutor groups and teaching groups.  Additional sessions are run at Matravers for children who may find transition particularly difficult and for those with Special Educational Needs. All new students attend the Induction days in June where they meet the Headteacher, Senior Team, Head of Year 7 and their Form Tutor and they spend the day with their new tutor group. The Induction Evening that follows gives parents information required for the start of term and the opportunity to raise any concerns with the Form Tutor or Head of Year.
